In 2024, Instagram began censoring knife-related posts on its platform. Since then, makers and collectors showcasing their work have experienced a severe loss of reach. For many, Instagram is a crucial promotional tool, significantly impacting their sales.

What does this mean?

Knives are no longer shown to non-followers and do not appear in search results. Although knives are not explicitly prohibited on Instagram, the platform’s detection algorithms now classify them alongside “drugs, vaping products, weapons, and adult content.”

In response, Studio Blade launched “THE SHADOW BANNED POSSE” on Facebook. This group was created out of frustration and serves as a forum to discuss the new Instagram policies that affect many in our community.
